A meeting of the team of the project "Pearl necklace of Holy Russia" at the end of trips to the cities of the project

June 19, 2019 meeting of participants of the international project of the Smolensk diocese youth development cultural-cognitive tourism "Pearl necklace of Holy Russia".

The meeting was attended by Metropolitan of Smolensk and Dorogobuzhsky Isidore; member of the Federation Council from the legislative authorities of the Smolensk region, Deputy Chairman of the Russian public organization "Russian Union of young scientists", S. D. Leonov, project Manager, rector of the Church of the Holy new Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, the head of Department of the Smolensk diocese for relations with society and the media Archpriest Valery Ryabokon; curator of the project from Smolensk diocese, Deputy head of the Smolensk diocese for Church-state relations with society and the media Maria Zhukova, the project participants – Tutors and students of Smolensk universities. Branch of national research UNIVERSITY "MPEI" in Smolensk was represented by the head. the Department of Humanities N.P. Starodvorane, Deputy head. Department TMO M. G. Kulikova, students of 2nd year M. Ovchinnikov and A. Erashova.

The working meeting was dedicated to summing up the intermediate results of the project. It took the form of free discussion: about your experience of participating in the project were told by the curators and volunteers. Sincerely, the students shared their impressions and discoveries: in the preparation of the presentation video on the history of cities "Pearl necklace" many people tried themselves in the role of TV presenters, journalists, photographers. Students of secular universities was noted as in the process changed the attitude to his native Smolensk. Temples, monuments, and other attractions once part of the familiar landscape, and now each of them is a living history, the people, their faith, their cultural traditions, their Christian feat. In addition, in each city, which has hosted young people working on the project, they found new friends and associates.

Sergey Leonov praised the work of the team of the tourist project "Pearl necklace of Holy Russia" and promised to contribute to this project to know more people and more young people had the opportunity to stay away from interesting and important things.

University professors thanked the organizers for the opportunity to participate in the project, because each of them gave it very much. And volunteers, and supervisors, constitute a cohesive team within which the idea to continue work on the development of youth tourism.

About the new project, which will mark the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the great Patriotic war, said M. S. Zhukova. Visit the iconic cities of military glory, the development of historical tourist cases related to military history of cities, including Smolensk and Vitebsk, trip to Minsk, Khatyn, part in the action "Candle of memory" in the city of Brest, the creation of student mini-film dedicated to the memory of the war years, are just some of the ideas to be carried out in the framework of the new project.

Metropolitan Isidor support this good initiative connected with the preservation of historical memory and the education of the younger generation. The Archbishop also invited the students and teachers on June 22, in day of memory and grief, to attend the night service, which will be held in the Annunciation Church on Cathedral hill.

The meeting ended with the viewing of a presentation video about the city of Polotsk — one of the cities in the "Pearl necklace". The audience rewarded with applause from the Creator of the video – operator of the diocesan television station "Saint Mercurius" Denis Artemenko.
