In connection with the reorganization of the structure of the branch in 2002, the Department of mathematics was joined to the cycles of disciplines: mechanics and engineering graphics. The result of this transformation in the composition of the staff of the Department consisted of professors of Department of mechanical engineering (candidates of technical Sciences, associate Professor G. Zubova, and In the Letov L. A., senior teachers Stepanov A. P., Timoshenko A. L.), and Department of descriptive geometry and engineering graphics (Ph. D., associate Professor Goncharova I. A., senior teachers A. Isakov And G. I. Stezhko). Before joining the Department of mathematics they were part of the Department of technical disciplines.
The Department of technical disciplines was formed by combining in different years of three departments: "engineering mechanics", "descriptive geometry and drawing", "Engineering ecology". Since these chairs were developed in parallel, had its own history, it is advisable to give historical information on each Department.
Department of technical mechanics was formed in 1963, its name until September 1995 did not change. The Department was established to teach the following subjects: "Theoretical mechanics", "Applied mechanics", "machine Parts", "strength of materials". In different years the Department was headed by associate professors, candidates of technical Sciences Kovalev N. G., Vasilyev G. N., Ermakov I. A., doctor of technical Sciences, Professor, laureate of the state prize Animals G. E. During its existence the chair prepared three candidates of technical Sciences (Zubov, G. V., Ermakov I. A., Kovalev N. G.), published more than 60 scientific papers. The main directions and topics of scientific activity were: non-destructive methods of control of reliability (durability), instrumentation, design of processing equipment. The Department's work took place in close cooperation with relevant departments of the MEI.
